El Capitan Hotel - Van Horn, Tx

Oh Darn! We were "forced" to stay another night at the El Capitan Hotel.  The past few days the weather and the roads have been less than kind to the bicyclists.  Consequently, the bikes went on strike and spent last night and most of today in the hotel manager's office for a much needed break.

Today I did not venture far from the hotel  Given the interior of this hotel and it's history, why bother to go out into the rain??  I did laundry and took some photos.  I'll refer you to Wikipedia if you want to learn more about his hotel.  As a once "wanna be" architect, this building is priceless.  The tile flooring, the walls, ceilings, the exterior courtyard, the whole shape and flow of the building is amazing.  Each room has a coziness and at the same time an openness that is very inviting.  I will let the photos tell the story.

Tomorrow is, per Paul C's favorite bike song, "Back in the Saddle Again!"   Reality - campgrounds and very budget motels!  Dana K...
