Day 3 - El Centro Ca. to Blyth Ca.

Day 3!  Well, this is now a typical bike trip.  We had plans to end the day at a bike-only campground outside of Palo Verde, Ca.  Sounded like a good target, buuuut, it turns out the campground has been closed for more than 2 years (but still on the list)!?  So, we looked at other sites like the city park, but it was obviously a place for drug dealers - needles and syringes, etc.  Sooooooo, we had to crank to the town of Blyth, Ca. and we got a cheap motel.  At least they had a shower, sort of.  I still got cleaner, sort of.  I think I smell better, sort of.
The ride was 104.6 miles with 1,889 feet of climb.  We did get to go through the neat sand desert - the Algodones Dunes Wilderness Area - on the way to Glamis.  The only other folks there were from China.  We and they got pictures of our two groups.  They thought the bikes were neat anyway.

From there we started climbing over a long pass to the Colorado River canyon/floodplain.  Very nice farms.  Lots of crops, lots of Mexican workers making it all happy.  There was some rain the day before and they had floods.  I did my part too.

This is one of the "I did NOT make this up" pictures.  There will be more!!

This is what it's like riding to the end of the day.  The shadows just move along.

We did not plan on this long of a ride, but we made it - again.  The views have been great and we are happy to be here - well, most of the time.
