Day 8 Usery campground to Cholla campground.

Day 8.  We had a real rocky mountain day - started with a cool morning, followed by some hot climb and then a fairly heavy rain-shower on another climb.  We did 77.8 miles, climbed 5,981 feet and got sunburned and then soaked.  Typical.
Actually, it was just beautiful all the way with a nice lunch at Sunflower, Az.
First, the cacti were amazing - lots of shapes and sizes.  Not good to eat though.

We did make it up to 4565 feet on one climb, and even got a bath on the way - rain!
This is tonight's picture of the sunset - and the rain left!
Earlier in the day it was warm and the climbs were great for loosing weight!
This is the sort of "stuff" you find on the road - all sorts of things.
I would love to know who put this rock up there!?  Amazing indeed!!
Despite it being in the desert, there is water seeping out here and there.
The was at the bottom of a steep descent where we rested.  I can't imagine doing this hike in the summer.  Folks were definitely tough!!
