Arizona Highways

Day 8 – October 8, 2018

After leaving the military, my father’s first job as an air traffic controller was in Tucson, AZ.  I remember many family camping trips to various lakes in Arizona.  On Monday, we camped at the Usery Mountain Campground and after the sunset (see photos),  and dinner Paul C. and I drove to a Wal-Mart, 7 miles from the campground! Unbelievable!

After the cyclists got on the road, I drove around the park and took the opportunity to take a few photos.  This park has miles and miles of saguaro cactus.  Top this off with blue skies and white puffy clouds.  Here are a few photos:

Day 9 – October 9, 2018 – We stayed at the Cholla Campground at Roosevelt Lake.  I remember catching a fish at this lake in 1964.  Today, I simply enjoyed the beauty of the surroundings and fond memories of fishing/camping with my family.  Photos of Roosevelt Lake:
