Day 4 - Blyth Ca. to Hope, Az.

Day 4.  The temps were somewhat down today, and after yesterdays century we had only 55.8  miles to do with 2330 feet of climb.  We spent almost 20 miles on I-10 and found all sorts of tools - mainly socket wrenches.  I think they grow as weeds along this part of Arizona.  No metrics.  The trucks were great to us, and moved over as they went by.  The cars were not so nice, and the "Megaloads" as usual tried to turn us into road-trash.  We were impressed by the number of places cars pulled over and burned.  The pavement was scorched!  Bicycles don't do that.
The climbs were not bad, and the desert seemed to get drier as we went along.

We did meet a famous dog!  In a truck stop a very nice lady showed us what she claimed was the ugliest dog in the country (if not the world).  We got a picture with it, but most of the folks watching voted for Craig and I as being more ugly.  The dog just smiled.

So, as we get further into the desert we are seeing more signs of what the locals swear are alien markers.  Here is an example.  The locals can't tell us what they mean, but they are sure it is the aliens doing sending messages.  Please let us know if you can interpret it!
Here is today's "I don't make this stuff up picture".  So, it appears better NOT to have any county maintenance done on the roads!!

The end of today had just a beautiful sunset.  Very "western" indeed!  I will certainly sleep tonight!!
