Day 36 Simmesport, La to Hostel outside of Jackson, La.

Day 36.  This was bridge day!  We crossed two major bridges and rivers with the bridges being OK!  Yea!!
We did 62.8 miles and climbed only 711 feet, but we did go over some waterways.
First we had to leave our luxurious abode - the "sportsman"  Here is their wonderful sign.

Then, we went by where we had dinner.  There was nobody up yet.  Great place - for dinner.
After that we headed up the first big bridge for the first big river - the Atchafalyaya (say that fast!?).

Indeed quite a view, but more come!
Here is another house showing how they keep the water and critters out.

On the way we did see some "interesting" signs.

We also passed quite a few interesting and apparently abandoned houses/structures. Some were complete with graves.

Then, there is always the people.  First, the folks at the local grocery store that were all willing to give us directions, but it was all different!?

Then, there was the fellow who kept us from making a several mile mistake.

And, there was the lady picking pecans.  Nice to talk.
Then, it was on over the "Big Mamu"! The Mississippi!!  Here are a series of pictures.  It is about as big as it could be down here.

It was an amazing view, and we had a great shoulder to ride on.  What a piece of America!
Then, we got to the Hostel and spent the night with Perry - a wonderful port in a storm.

Tomorrow we go to where we will lay-over and probably spend some time in New Orleans.  Pictures to come, but tomorrow we ride again.
